Anxiety built up for 2 weeks. We had just gotten press passes for the Funkshion: Miami Fashion Week, and we could barely stop talking about it. We had networking plans, launched our new and updated websites and printed out new business cards. Everything was planned to a T, and we were decided to go and have a great time while meeting amazing people.

It didn't quite turn out to be that way.

First I have to say that this is not a review about the event. In no way this should be considered as one, because I simply did not go to any of the events except for one.

So on Thursday went to the American Heart Association event... I don't know if it was just me, but I thought it was totally amateurish. I mean, in a fashion show, I expect to se at least a couple of actual models. I do understand that it was a charity event, but between the lack of models, bad visibility due to a plethora of trees on the way, and technical sound problems, it was just an awful experience. So bad, that it totally killed my desire to go to any of the other events. That, my friends, was my second mistake.

After taking a quick look ant the event pictures, I actually regret not attending to the Nicole Miller events and the after parties. I do not regret, however, missing Pam Anderson.

Anyway, here are some of the pictures I took on Thursday. Enjoy.

This whole week has been a waiting game. Anxiety hits me and my friends as we wait impatiently for the upcoming Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach. My friend Stefani was kind enough to contact the right people and got us press passes to cover the event. As a prelude to this awaited event, I had to, of course, get new gear. Amongst the newly acquired items, are these Steve Madden boots. I can't wait to put them to good use next week, while taking photos and meeting awesome people. Look back for more posts on the event next week. Till then!

While taking a look at issue #59 of V magazine, I came across a little interview with artist Rye Rye. Even though I was really interested about reading about her achievements as a young artist, what really caught my attention was her shoes–some really nice hi-top sneakers with a leopard print on them.

The brand of the shoes is Creative Recreation, and I have to say that it was a mistake to be curious and wander along to their website. I know that sounds really negative, but on the contrary, the reason behind my opinion is because now I want like 15 pairs of shoes from their site. Their shoes are really iconic and unique in many ways. Collections come in either hi-tops or low. Definitely go and have a look, if you are into that sort of things.

I had to get them. I actually got them a size bigger just because they didn't have my size and I needed this. What? Yes, it is necessity. Ok... Maybe not, but I really wanted them. Aren't they cool?

Today is my day off, and I can't tear myself apart from electronic screens it seems. I have been wanting to get inspired to create new work, and Skinny Intern did it for me today. I enjoy following different blogs about design, fashion, photography and such. Skinny Intern does all of that from a very personal and trendy point of view.

Kristin Ondocsin is author to this fantastic blog, and also a great, beautiful model. I've seen her in action, and it is stunning to see somebody change characters on the spot, much like acting. I really enjoyed my short opportunity to be around while she was on the spot.

These shots, taken by photographer Julius Gregorio, were the essence of my inspiration today to create this.

Found this in PIG Magazine. I wish I could do that, just walk around taking random pictures of random people. There's definitely a lot of eye candy in that blog. I subscribed to it, the RSS feed and I became a fan of the magazine on Facebook. Too bad I can't understand a word on the blog, but it is still very visually stimulating. Check it out! By the way, I think the girl on the top is so friggin' stylish... I want to meet her and borrow her boots, haha. Or not...

Fantastic work by Natasha Kertes. It's really cool that she usually does her own styling. Her work is excellent, and I just found out by reading her bio that she graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, same as me :)
By the way, I found her by looking at a Russian magazine where I am also running an ad. That's a long reach to find out about somebody local, isn't it?
Will post my ad soon.

Neuefoto is a company formed by my 2 amazingly talented friends Jerico Angeles and Stefani Alpizar. Their talent defies their youth, but their creativity and freshness confirms it. Take a peek at their new, recently (and continuously) updated portfolio.

I recently went to NY for the first time. I know, wow, my first time... Anyway, the city was everything that I expected and more. I saw millions of things that I wanted to buy. I really didn't have enough time to spend around the city. After all I was only there for 2 days, definitely not enough time with so many cool things to look at. My next visit will be not only better planned, but for a more extended amount of time. One of the places I really want to check out is a little shop full of fashion magazines close to my aunt's apartment in Manhattan. Just looking at their dirty window display I saw many many covers of obscure fashion magazines and I just wished I had at least $300 to spend on them and 2 extra briefcases to bring them with me.

This really caught my attention. I love the neon colors and amazing illustration. It is really different from what I have seen on magazines from Marc Jacobs.
